INSPIRATION: TURKEY + CAMELS

Known for her amazing shop based in Australia - inspiring books - and collaborations with Anthropologie and beyond - Sibella Court is a designer I admire + gain much inspiration from.  If you don't follow Sibella Court's instagrams, you definitely should - You can also catch them here!  I've been totally blown away with her snapshots lately; I just had to share.
She has been traveling throughout Turkey, which is on my ultimate "top three list" of travel destinations  - you know, the list that never changes...you've just got to go! Sibella has been documenting her adventure + I couldn't be more inspired - well, unless I was actually there...so let's pretend!

We're gonna go here...
And since we will be doing lots of walking and hitting up the local markets - we'll wear something like this...
During our stay, I hope we run across these guys... and we'll definitely pick up some of those pom-poms + tassels to string in our studio/bedroom/livingroom/anywhere-we-possibly-can...because they are just too good!!
It's amazing how much you can learn from other cultures...traveling is one thing that really and truly is priceless. The experience, the education, the sights and sounds - it can't be beat. These shots are SO fantastic. And, can you imagine for one minute how swell those markets are over there?! I mean...

WHAT A WONDERFUL WORLD: EARTH DAY

"I see trees of green" and "skies of blue", and I do in fact, oftentimes "think to myself what a wonderful world"; just as good ole Louis Armstrong once sang.

Magpie Fields is proud to provide an environmentally conscious approach to design and even more, really enjoy giving back! Did you know the three principles behind our brand were Green, Global, and Giving...check out our mission statement.
When you purchase a vintage or an up-cycled good from the shop, you are helping the environment by recycling - that's right, going green! Also, our global goods are hand-crafted, meaning fine quality achieved without the production of mass pollution from a factory - supporting talented artists and clean air, so thank you!

This Sunday my friends, is Earth Day, a day dedicated to being reminded and grateful for the beautiful Earth we live in. What about making some sort of resolution - maybe opt to start conserving your water usage, or use reusable bags or baskets instead of the oh-so-convenient plastic option at the store. It's so easy to take the beautiful Earth and all the nature within it for granted - I think it's because we don't really see firsthand the damage we are doing to it everyday.  I have to admit, I really have slacked on helping the environment in the past, and I really want to change that. So this year on Earth day, I'm going to start with a small step of using only reusable bags or baskets - and when I don't for some reason have either on me, I'll reach for the paper bag over the non-biodegradeable plastic.  I think that's a good start! Every little bit helps, eh?!

Have a lovely weekend + Happy Earth Day! xo, e

COLOR ON THE OUTSIDE

Dreaming of colors in all shades  - buildings of all shapes - and destinations all over the world.

FEATURED FIND: MALI WOVEN BANGLES

Have you seen our woven bangles from Mali, Africa in the shop? Hand-woven with recycled plastic by local artisans, these bangles are the perfect splash of color to add to your everyday outfit. Check out the detail in the different designs and what about the colors - vibrant!
We love the idea of stacking several on your wrist and even blending them with other trendy bracelets - such a huge trend for this summer.
While being stylish with your stacks - you're not only recycling what was once a waste material, but you're also supporting the incredibly talented artisans of Mali, Africa and we're pretty thrilled about that. So yeah, go ahead and stack them high!

MIX + MATCH: MASTERED MINIMALISM

Do you ever look around and realize you're surrounded by a bunch of "stuff" that doesn't make sense?! It almost seems like clutter? This seems to be something those of us who have, over the years, bought things because they were a good deal or because they were trendy, but not because you really loved the piece - I used to be one of these people, but moving multiple times helped me realize that I was going to end up with a home and closet full of "eh, it'll do" kind of pieces - that wouldn't inspire, wouldn't tell my story, and wouldn't really appeal to me - and that is no bueno and honestly, embarrassing to admit!

So fittingly, I thought this week's "Mix + Match" look would feature Mastered Minimalism.  I find it to be very inspiring, and it's so minimal, which seems odd to me because I love pattern and color and not anything boring.  But here's the thing, I've found that minimal doesn't have to be boring - and it's actually quite the opposite of boring.  The secret to achieving this mastered look is incorporating pieces you love, from different eras, and that are trendy to you.
With a white space like the ones here, the decor stands out and speaks volumes.  It's very peaceful yet intriguing ....don't you think?  Time for spring cleaning!

VINTAGE VENTURE: ROUND TOP

I'm heading down to Round Top, Texas to the Spring Antique Week.  I'm still a newbie, as this is only my second Round Top show to attend, but I was lucky enough to take some time this past Sunday afternoon to go down early and scout out the scene with a friend.
There is SO much to see; no but really, there is, and you get to come with me! I'll be documenting the good, bad, and the oh-so-strange findings and happenings here here during these next few days.
