Popping Up: Paint Brushstrokes

Guilty - I was on Pinterest...

and I came across the new Chanel line for Spring 2014 that reminded me so much of the brushed aluminum vintage fixtures in the shop! I remember when I came across these 1960s mod fixtures I had to grab them for their shape alone.  The clean lines of the fixtures is of course eye-catching and then enhancing them with bright splashes of hand-painted colorful motion has only added that much more interest to the design. 

If this paint brushstroke is popping up on the fashion runway of Chanel then I definitely think we were and are on to something. Pretty cool right?

I have a feeling we're going to be seeing a lot more of this whimsy brushstroke business in both fashion and interiors. Let's ride the wave...

Popping up: EMERALD

The 2013 color of the year has been chosen - well as far as the Pantone 2013 color of the year goes. Pantone, a go-to color guide for designers, has chosen the magical color for the new year to be Emerald. This past year I think we can all say that we were a little overwhelmed with a the lighter hue of green... you all know what I'm talking about, mint green. Although mint green is lovely, it's nice to change things up a bit with a bolder hue.

Emerald is a vibrant color that looks good on everybody and is easy to implement in your interior decor. My mom always says that blue and green are two colors that go with everything because it's the color of the sky and the grass, and I believe this to be true in interiors and fashion. She is one smart lady, don't ya think?!

Be on the lookout - emerald is going to be popping up everywhere! 

POPPING UP: COLOR BLOCKING

Have you noticed that color blocking is all over the fashion world. It is definitely a hot trend right now with it's mix of bold, bright colors!

I can't help but notice how color blocking was an interiors trend of the past  - and how it has slightly been showing back up in current interiors. I'm going to go ahead and say - that color blocking will soon be wildly seen in the modern interiors world. I can see it faintly fading from fashion and hitting home decor with a big bang- let's stay on the look out. 

What's more fun than incorporating pops of bright + bold colors into your home or office. I'm on board this train - I can't seem to get enough color! And wow, can you get over that couch?! I can hardly stand it - vintage frame, plush velour textiles, + blending color palette, it's so so good.

POPPING UP: Yellow

It's not a secret that yellow is one of my favorite colors - it was the main color in my wedding and the color of my bedroom for many years growing up. And yes, it's true -  colorS because it's way too hard to have just one favorite color. Am I alone on this?!

I've been pleasantly surprised to see yellow popping up - mostly in fashion, but now definitely being noticed in interiors. It's like a domino effect, once it hits fashion - it then starts showing up in interiors, or vice versa.  Notice the pieces from the shop? We're trending!

I would suggest to always implement colors in your home or wardrobe that you are naturally attracted to - don't make yourself like a color just because it's "in style".  It will be out of style before your comfortable with the shade + besides you want to surround yourself with the colors that make you happy or at peace. Colors definitely do have an affect on your mood, but not in a mood ring kind of way - remember those? They were strange... but i definitely had one, and wore it.

Yellow is one of those happy colors for me. It puts a smile on my face! And by the way, y'all have got to check out more goods from Found - item # 7 - is from. POPPING UP: Orange

It's always a thrill seeing new trends come about in fashion and interiors, usually simultaneously. Maybe it's the urge to pull out those bold colors for the summer that seems to be right around the corner, but nonetheless - Orange has been popping up everywhere!

Bright accents to liven up your space or your wardrobe - just a touch of orange seems to do the trick.

Vibrant and bold - add a little spice to your life!
