flea market fever

I definitely have a case of flea market fever. Over the past year, I have moved quite a bite, from Prague, Czech Republic to Alexandria, Louisiana to where I recently reside, Miami, FL.  Miami, as much as this city exudes flavor in art and design, it is all in modern taste.  I for one, love modern art and furniture design, but at the same time I crave for the detail and craftsmanship of the past.  This is where my love for the vintage modern style flairs from.  It tickles me because my mother would literally drag me to garage sales and such when I was younger, but now, I have adapted the same love my mother has for antiques.  To see a piece, maybe in the corner or under the pile of "junk", and to notice what it could be and what it could offer is so inspiring and exciting.  I love it.

Here are a few pictures from some of the flea markets I had the pleasure of going to abroad.

My sweet husband was nice enough to come along. He's such a good sport!

Vintage handbag, 20kc = $1.  It even had the original key! What a great find!

Stumbled across a small flea market in Venice, Italy.

Also, in Vienna, Austria.  This one was much larger than Venice but not as big as Prague.  Quite pricey!

But look at all this goodness...

When my family came to visit my husband and I in Prague, we were able to take a short trip to Paris.  Mom and I managed to sneak away one morning to the Le Marche aux puces Saint Ouen. Notice these from Pottery Barn??

Needless to say, I want to go back.

Precious.

Miami has one true flea market , that I have heard of, (please let me know if you know of another), that comes once a year starting the second Sunday in October.  It is located on Lincoln Road and is held every other Sunday after that until the end of December.  I am so pumped!

On the other hand, my mom is going to Canton, TX for "First Monday Trade Days" this weekend.  I had my first Canton experience this summer and it was exceptional.  My mom has gone for years but I was never up to it. After traveling abroad and finding my inner love for antiques, I journeyed over to Canton with her and her best friend. It was a blast, and we even got to see some of our family I hadn't seen in quite a while.  I can not WAIT to go back.

Here are a few pictures from this past summer when I went:
