Boo-tiful.

This Halloween inspired Fall look is...

I'd wear these threads to stroll the city streets.

1. Earrings: Anthropologie 2. Cardigan: Anthropologie 3. Cords: J.Crew 4. Flats: TopShop 5. Bag: Urban Outfitters

Gypsy Picnic

I wanted to share some of the fun my hubby and I had this past weekend at the Gypsy Picnic Trailer Food Festival here in Austin.
Excitement
Location
The oh-so-official guide

Excuse the bumpy ride! Don't you love that random band?!
 Reminded me of New Orleans
First stop: East Side King
East Side King speciality? Pork Bun
He liked it.
2nd stop: Chi'lantro
Korean BBQ Pork Burrito
Delish
Hub's 3rd Stop: The Zubick House
Smoked Pork Shoulder Kolache topped with local pickled
jalapenos and onions = his favorite pick
My 3rd stop: Bananarchy
Huge frozen choco-dipped banana... rolled in nuts...
on a plastic spoon = my favorite pick

So much fun + yes, we did leave with full bellies. If you've seen some, I definitely recommend trying out the food trucks in your area. You can't beat it - fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, and passionate cooks. Go out and support your local chefs; whether they serve out of a trailer or a brick and mortar, it's goooooooood!

Howling Halloween Decor

With the first sign of Fall weather upon us in Austin, it has ignited my excitement for the upcoming holidays. Hearing the howling wind outside, led me to find these festive pieces for Halloween and beyond...
1. Shop Sweet LuLu- fun straws 2. Target -  wine glasses
3. Bed Bath & Beyond - classy candle holder   4. BonnBonn- apothecary jars
5. Jamali Garden- urn  6. Etsy- funky feathers  7. Factory 20- vintage cocktail table  8. Ballard Design- rug

Just like all other Southern cities...

Images: Salt Lick (top right). Perla's (bottom right).

Who: Anthony Bourdain reviewed Perla's and Man vs. Food went to Salt Lick. These places are legit.

What: You will find the best BBQ at Salt Lick; seriously, the best, and at Perla's you will find fresh seafood, which is hard to come by in A-town.

Where: Perla's is located on South Congress and Salt Lick is right outside of Austin.

When: You are hungry and in/around Austin.

Why: Location and quality. Perla's is located on South Congress, the heart of the trendy hipster scene, and offers a convenient outside eating area under huge trees. It's so nice to discover a place that serves fresh seafood, when every other place is serving mexican or BBQ. And as for Salt Lick, well, it's located on a Ranch/Vineyard, in the middle of nowhere; just you, BBQ, and the hills of Texas. Can you believe there are vineyards in central Texas?! Who knew!

Just like all other Southern cities, Austin offers good eatin'!

Rolling Hills of Wonder

The rolling hills of Round Top, TX, along with the neighboring towns in Fayette County, were filled with global goods and vintage treasures this past weekend. My mom and I tackled as much ground as possible in 3 days. We had an amazing time.

Here are my top 10 "ah-ha" moments & tips:

1. The dealers in the Warrenton fields open the Wednesday before the weekend Malburger Farms opens. The field dealers are open 10 plus days and not just the one weekend Malburger Farms is open.
2. Just pick a spot and start shopping. There is so much to see, there is no way to organize a plan.
3. There IS free parking (behind the fields).
4. Malburger Farms is for those seeking out restored antiques or new items. The dealers set their space up as if it were a store, merchandised beyond belief.  Seriously, I'm talking up their with Anthropologie, and this is just for one weekend in a tent with no AC. I admire these people.
5. Branch bundles sell for $3. It's time to start chopping.
6. The fields are for "junking" and the dealers are more willing to work on their prices the last weekend.  Although, they have more to choose from the first weekend.
7. The tea is Unsweet, and this my friends, did not sit well with my mother. She's more of the "I'll have some tea with my cup of sugar" kind of gal. Love her.
8. Cowboy boots are necessary, cowboy hats are optional.
9. Thursday night of the last weekend is Prom Night at Zapp Hall. You can dress up ,but more importantly, their are free chips-n-dip and a cocktail. Hello, freebies!
10. I have a feeling, Once you go, you will never stop going...

Round Top, I will be seeing you Spring 2012.
